Pet Spot Treatment
We all love our pets – they are an important part of our lives. However, from time to time our little friends can create a mess on the carpet or favorite chair. Whether due to a brand new puppy or an aging dog, accidents happen. No pet owner wants to deal with pet stains and odor. Bluegreen has some tips for you to handle those urine spots before you invite us in to do a thorough cleaning.
Soak It Up
When those pet urine accidents happen, it’s important to soak up as much of the urine as possible immediately. Using paper towels and dabbing or blotting is an important first step toward containing the spot to a small area. Do not rub the urine around because more of the area will get stained and contaminated. Dispose of the paper towel in an outdoor trash can so that the smell doesn’t linger.
Sprinkle with Baking Soda
Sprinkling the spot with baking soda will absorb the urine and neutralize the odor. Using about 1/2 cup for small spots and 1 cup for larger spots sprinkle the baking soda on the pet spot and gently work it into the fibers. Let it dry completely overnight and then vacuum.
Dry it Out
Use a fan to completely dry the spot and open windows if possible to provide maximum air circulation.
